Welcome to The Observatorio de Buzios, a little slice of paradise located at 041º 55" W longitude , -22º 46" S
latitude in Armacao de Buzios, a beach resort 2 hours north of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Earth, Solar System, Milky
Way. We are 10 minutes from the town center, close to the beach of Manguinhos, not far from the “Porto da
Barra” fisherman’s village.
(See Detailed Maps. Locate with Google Sky.)
Here, you will find one of the most charming centers for "astro-tourism" in all of Latin America. Our home
includes a fully functioning astronomical observatory, gourmet restaurant, 2 comfortable guest rooms, a day spa,
art atelier and small shop.
The Observatorio is ideally suited for intimate dinners and astronomy-themed events for groups of 6 to 30
people. Our “chino-latino” cuisine combines the flavors and techniques of both East and West with the freshest
available ingredients, especially sea-food. After dinner, you can take a guided tour of the night sky using our 14
inch, computer-controlled Celestron telescope, the largest in the region. We also offer courses in Astronomy and
scheduled activities geared to seasonal and astronomical events.
We are open most week-ends and during the week by reservation only.
We have two comfortable guest suites available for overnight guests. If you need accommodations while visiting
The Observatorio, please inquire. If our rooms are not available, we can help arrange special rates at nearby inns
and hotels.
Also, ask about our “full service plans”, special Astronomy/Gastronomy packages combining room, breakfast and
dinner, use of the telescope and library, plus astronomy courses. We will gladly create a customized plan to suit
your needs and budget.
The famous Italians, Marco Polo, Leonardo Da Vinci and Galileo Galilei are big influences here. If you share their
creative passion for travel, adventure and discovery, the Observatorio de Buzios is a great place to visit.
We hope to see you soon!
